In short
stroydom.ge makes a house in an intensity-8 zone earthquake-resistant at the design stage: a foundation matched to the soil from a geological survey, a monolithic reinforced-concrete frame or reinforced belts along all walls, a symmetrical layout without abrupt changes in stiffness, and reinforced joints. Rebar size and concrete class cannot be checked after the pour, so every reinforcement cage is photographed before concreting. We give a 10-year warranty on the structure.
Georgia sits in a seismically active region: for Tbilisi and most of the country the design seismicity reaches intensity 8. That is not a reason to be afraid but a reason to build by the rules. Earthquake resistance is set at the design and structural stage. You cannot “add” it later with finishing.
What makes a house earthquake-resistant
- A foundation matched to the actual soil: geology before the design, not “the same as the neighbour’s”.
- A monolithic reinforced-concrete frame or reinforced belts along all the walls.
- A symmetrical, regular building layout without abrupt changes in stiffness.
- Quality reinforcement of the joints: columns, lintels, floor-slab connections.
Why you cannot cut corners on the structure
Rebar cross-section, concrete class and joint reinforcement are hidden works that are invisible once poured. These are exactly what unscrupulous contractors “save” on. In an earthquake the price of that saving is cracks in the load-bearing walls, and in the worst case collapse. That is why monolithic works must follow the design strictly, with photo documentation of every reinforcement cage before pouring.
How to control it
Ask for a design with a structural section and calculations, not just handsome facades. On site, document the reinforcement and concreting with photo and video reports. We build turnkey houses with a monolithic frame for Georgia’s seismicity and give a warranty on the structure of 10 years.
